Afghanistan Torches UK TroopsAfghanistan is a country that has a history of oppression and conflict. Officially, the land is an Islamic Republic located in South-Central Asia with a current population of just over 28 million people. But the world knows Afghanistan as a place of never-ending conflict and war. In fact, the country was recently described by UNICEF as the most dangerous nation in the world for a child to be born. In the past forty years alone, the country has experienced civil wars, invasions by foreign nations, as well as serving as the training grounds for terrorist groups and international drug smugglers. This thirty-year period of conflict and war began with the invasion by a foreign army, the Soviets, in 1979, and was bookended by the invasion of another foreign army, this time a US-led coalition that reputedly toppled the Taliban. But when the Taliban Torches foreign trucks along supply lines, we know that they are still around. In fact, the BBC recently reported that the UK death toll in Afghanistan passed 100. And though their American allies have deployed and diverted thousands of troops to the region, many insiders maintain that Afghanistan is simply unwinnable. Like Vietnam before it, the goals and objectives for victory in this perpetually war-torn country seem ambiguous. What exactly would a victory mean? While politicians and military insiders struggle to answer these questions, troops continue to perish in a land that is as brutal and unforgiving as its history. | Recent ArticlesWhy The West Is Interested In AfghanistanEuro News Today: AfghanistanNatural Health Sciences in War Torn Areas Such As AfghanistanAptitude Tests and Education in AfghanistanInternational Removals Shipping Services to France from AfghanistanThe War In AfghanistanAfghanistan From A Visitors PerspectiveAfghanistans TerrainAccess to English Language Courses in AfghanistanFlights to Afghanistan for JournalistsIn Afghanistan You Cannot Even Get Some InkYou Will Never Find a Sin City in AfghanistanGo Here: AfghanistanRussell Rhodes Christmas Ornaments Delivered to AfghanistanEngagement Rings From Afghanistan to her FingerAfghanistan Torches UK TroopsTravelling to Afghanistan: Some Useful TipsWooden Shutters are Irrelevant in AfghanistanAll Inclusive Turkey or Afghanistan?
