You Will Never Find a Sin City in Afghanistan

Las Vegas is one of the most exciting cities in the world and is, consequently, one of the most popular American cities for both domestic and international travellers. This medium-sized city also bills itself as the entertainment capital of the world, as just about every top entertainer has at one time or another played in Vegas.

If you are planning a trip to Sin City, it is best to make arrangements well in advance. As you might imagine, Vegas is a year-round tourist destination. However, there is an off season, a time when travellers can save a lot of money on airfares and hotels. There’s only one catch… it’s in the summer.

Great! you say. Fantastic! I’ll go in the pool. Well, obviously you don’t know very much about Las Vegas. For instance, did you know that Sin City is located in the middle of an arid desert? No? Well, how about the fact that the average high temperature in the summertime is well over a hundred degrees? That’s hot enough to fry an egg here on the sidewalk in the afternoon.

Of course, the only thing more common in Vegas than the sound of a tourist losing their life savings is the sound of air conditioners on full blast. That’s right! Vegas runs on central air the way space shuttles run on rocket fuel— they can’t survive without it.

Though Sin City is an extremely popular destination for many international travellers, especially European ones, there are several countries whose citizens wouldn’t be caught dead there. We are referring, of course, to mostly Muslim countries like Afghanistan that prohibit gambling, alcohol and scantily-clad women. And honestly, what would Vegas be without them?
